Duncan's Food Review ( 2 )

( baked pork chop pumkin rice )
( black pepper beef fried noodle )
( shrimp paste crispy chicken wing )

THE LOCATION
------------------
Crystal jade macau cafe restaurant @ bugis

THE VIBE
-----------
The ambience resembles the typical looking crystal jade restaurant that many local families are accustomed to, with its rectangular looking tables that facilitate communal sharing of dishes, and the animated buzz of conversations that fill the air of the entire dining space. To further authenticate the feel of being in a “true Chinese restaurant”, the Chinese and Cantonese speaking service staff will further convince you that you are indeed, seated in a Cantonese restaurant. Be greeted to the rockstone spray walls and frosted looking glass panels , to enjoy a more intimate setting do request for welcoming looking customize red leather cushion settees that can probably accommodate four or more .

THE FOOD
------------
its another hk/ macau restuarant that i coincidentally visit again , As the name crystal jade Signatures suggests, this restaurant offers all your macau and hk favourites under one roof as well . The menu targets the mainstream shopping crowd in bugis and is comparatively budget-friendly.
For a tantalising start we tried their shrimp paste fried chicken wings , the crispy crust and inside the meatty looking wings juice out flavours - sweet, salty, spicy and sour, left us in a blissful state of confusion and temptation of having another four more ! continue with two main course ( above pictures ) the generous portion of both makes your money worth , not to mention the well cook tasty tender beef cubes that the serve in the blended soya sauce fried noodles with an authentic attractive ''wok '' fragrant from that simple dish . as for the other main course i only tried a small portion of it( thats ordered by my fren ) so in general taste seems ok to me ( mayb im not so into pumpkin ) but guess i will leave out this comment till i have a chance to try the whole dish next time ! ha

THE SERVICE
---------------
The waiters and waitresses at crystal jade have specially designed outfits which blends tradition and their very own style. However, i believe the service proficiency varies according to the crowd, but for that night , staff were quite attentive to us .

I keep being amazed by the extreme diversity of the Asian kitchen. We eat potatoes practically every day, is it the same with you, but then with rice? (Of course we have vegetables and meat as well)

Happen to bumped into the restaurant yesterday, so decided to have lunch there. Have ordered the shrimp paste fried chicken to begin with and theirs promotion dish - baked fresh baby lobster and rice with pumpkin sauce. As described by Duncan the shrimp paste chicken wings was crispy and juice with sweet, salty, spicy and sour flavours. As for the main course, it was a long wait! it took them 30mins to prepare and cook the dish! The baby lobster was baked on top of the rice with pumpkin sauce til golden brown. The flavour of the pumpkin sauce mixed with rice was very tasty and can taste that the baby lobster are freshly prepared. Enjoyed the dishes very much. =)
