Dolce & Gabbana opening party

Dolce & Gabbana celebrated the official opening of its flagship boutique last Friday,
the fashion crowd were out in full force celebrating the grand opening of the store right

at a prime spot of Singapore’s chic-est new mall ION Orchard.
and yes, everyone was there.

quite a mouthful,
but the bloody awesome party Dolce & Gabbana threw was worth it.

The premise was extended from the entrance of the boutique out in a Dolce & Gabbana label-clad temporary structure. When I entered the premise, I felt like I was transported into two worlds – Club Glitz and Glamour, and High-Society Chic. There was the disco light, the bar at one side and the DJ booth at the other .




special big thanks to Wen han who got the invites for us :)

in my opinion it's one of the best opening party !

infectious, easy music perfect ! just couldn’t resist.

whooping music, Veuve Clicquot, stunning crowd of celebs, all the major media, movers & shakers of the local scene and eye candy overload... thank you, Club 21.

hello peeps !
i'm .. finally back ....er..
back with a decent blog entry with my baking creation !

wanna say a BIG THANK YOU to readers who did not abandoned this space of mine !
and also those who are awaiting for my baking entries too ! xoxo

i shall proudly present this humble work of mine again :)

First
let's check out the
ingredients needed ..


self raising flour
baking powder
1 egg
butter ( room temperature )
milk
sugar
salt
black peppercorns
parsley flakes
italian seasonings
garlic
white button mushrooms
tomatoes
asparagus
danish blue cheese

a little .. bit .. about danish blue cheese


Danish blue cheese , also known as Danablu . Made in denmark . its light blue-veined cheese, This semi-soft creamery cheese is typically drum or block shaped and has a white to yellowish, slightly moist, edible rind. Made from cow's milk

Danish Blue is often served crumbled on salads or as a dessert cheese with fruit,
but the Danish way of eating it is on bread or biscuits.

For me i gonna experiment it differently today ..

to kick start

make the tart crust !

In a large bowl , combine butter , eggs , flour , sugar , salt and mix thoroughly ..
gather the dough into a ball , if dough is too crumbly ,
add some ice water by drops until the particles adhere .
dust the pastry dough with a little flour .
Refrigerate for at least half four before baking .

pour olive oil into heated pan
while heating up
fry the chopped garlic

add the chopped white button mushrooms and stir fry with salt , peppercorn
parsley flakes and italian seasonings



last but not least add some milk and let it simmers for about 5 more minutes


lightly grease the tart pan before placing the dough ..
Center the dough in the tart pan, if necessary, trim the excess dough, then pinch the edges of the dough flat with the edge of the tart pan.

as i will be baking this as unfilled crust, use a fork to puncture the doughs in all areas, so it doesn't puff up while baking.


place the cooked mushrooms and sprinkle danish blue cheese on top


preheat the oven to 180 degree to 200 degree and bake for 20 - 25 mins

once baked , leave it to cool for about 10 mins

i drop by very last min on 24th which features fabulous stars like N*E*R*D , No doubt etc
and everything was made possible by gabriel ( 2nd guy from the left )

Live as you learn!

There's an old Swedish saying that goes: "live as you learn".
I cannot figure out a better way of saying this,
if we ever want to construct a political and
ethical system that is supposed to correlate with how reality functions,
we must overlook our social and moral constructions in order to interpret our situation as realistically as possible.

to me .. there's really alot to learn in life
and i'm constantly improving to be a better man :)

for those who are concern ,
my grandma is discharged and her condition seems pretty stable now ..
finally i'm at ease ..

In the past weeks, beside running back and forth
from hospital to work ..
somehow this incident knock some sense into me lately ..
I realized that I need a healthy body to enjoy my hard working money.

Being a workaholic,
I think we all deserve some break time.
My journey is not my own journey.
It involves with many other people as well

therefore from now onwards ,
i gonna inject this four words into my brain !
work hard and play hard !

there must be a reason for these old cliches to survive.
so believe me, it works !

so please dun judge on what you see !
thou i party hard but i work even harder !!! :p

I've come to realize that it's much more than just a saying.
It's a way of life... it's a mentality... it's an obsession.

the one and only reason why i party so much at times is because
i get to see all my loves !

recently i'm completely drained out from work

Mr D is dead tired !!
so i decided to give myself a break today ..

yes ! i baking ! cuz it's the best way to kill the stress im dealing now

finally for the longest time ! =)


let's check out my creation for the day =)


i have a long love affair with scones
coincidentally i'm so addicted to macdonald's cinnamon melt recently !
hence i'm going to put both ingredients together and make my very own version .

ingredients :

• 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar,
• 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  
• 4 teaspoons of ground cinnamons
  
• 2 tablespoons butter, melted
• chocolate chips

In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 10-12 times or until dough is no longer sticky.

add in the chocolate chips and mix to distribute

Divide in half; gently pat or roll each portion into a 7-in. circle.
Brush with butter and sprinkle with remaining sugar.
use a 1-2 inch round cutter and cut out 6-8 scones

Separate scones and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 425° for 10-13 minutes or until lightly browned.

preheat the oven 425 degree

and bake for 12- 15 mins


freshly bake scones in the house !! ^^

leave it on the rack and cool for about 10 mins ..

at the same time i'm referring to our very own local songbird who is
arguably the most successful singer in singapore & asia !

despite of my busiest hectic period ,
i can't find any good reason for me to missed out this incredible awesome showcase of her :)


After two years of silence and fending off the flurry of speculation from fans
and media that accompanied it,
Sun is now itching for her next breakthrough.
At the official press conference on 29 May for her “The Answer is…” concert in Singapore, the petite songbird says, “For a long time, people have always associated me with the girl next door.
I like being the girl next door, but I think I’ve already established that.
I’d like to do more than just sing and be sweet and pretty.”

Her concert in Taiwan kicked off with a huge bang,
featuring the singer in outrageous futuristic costumes,

The singer admits to trying on over 100 different costumes before settling on the final wardrobe.

and as for her homeground , she tries to " bring back "what she did in her last concert @taiwan

the concert is definitely worth watching !

i vaguely remember when was the last time
i sat in front of my comp blogging ..

i know this space of mine has lag for the longest time.

hence , i borrow some time from myself today ( sipping on coffee at the same time )
to pen down whatever i want to resurrect it ! lol


the main reason for not blogging ?

work !

i have tons of work and insufficient time to deal with ,

in fact , things are getting better and catching up for me ( which is a good sign ) ,
of cuz i would seize this opportunity to exert myself to the next higher degree .

Labour day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world

that resulted from the labour union movement,

to celebrate the economic and social

achievements of workers .

and it's a work free day for everyone !

Scorching hot bangkok ( part II )

my well deserved 4 days break has beautifully ended ..
thou it's kinda short but
it got me fully recharged and
got me motivated to slog even harder for the coming year!

This trip is slighlty different from my last trip ..
beside achieving a relaxing getaway ..
i wanted to do some sightseeing which i haven had a chance to do so ..

on the very first day

we took ferry and criuse down the chao praya river ..

people say trip to bangkok is incomplete without visiting the one must see sight
The Grand Palace !

and i very much wanted to come here ... :)

city's most famous landmark. Built in 1782 - and for 150 years the home of the Thai King,
the Royal court and the administrative seat of government -
the Grand Palace of Bangkok is a grand old dame indeed,
that continues to have visitors in awe with its beautiful architecture and intricate detail,
all of which is a proud salute to the creativity and craftsmanship of Thai people.
Within its walls were also the Thai war ministry, state departments, and even the mint.
Today, the complex remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom.

after visiting we head down to
chinatown for their famous yummy sharkfin soup !

One of the must things to do in Bangkok nights out.
You'll find an endless street vendors all across the street and soi (lanes).

You can get all sorts of chinese food in Chinatown.
I like the open air style places that have noodle soup , desserts etc!
It reminds me what it use to look like in the olden days of spore !
( thou i'm not born yet la lol )

day 2 ..

on our way to weekend market ..

Though there are many markets throughout Bangkok, Chatuchak Weekend Market
is still pretty much the undisputed king of them all.
The scale of it is pretty unbelievable - it covers an area of 70 rai (35 acres),
contains more than 15 000 shops and stalls, has over 200 000 visitors each day,
and they spend an estimated total of 30 million baht (approx US$750 000).
The range of products on sale is extensive, and includes household accessories, handicrafts, religious artifacts, art, antiques, live animals
(which unfortunately are frequently caged in cruel conditions),
books, music, clothes, food, plants and flowers etc...

i had a good shopping time there but the weather there is super uber unbearble !

oh .. back to the hotel ...

they have a plunge pool located at the roof top
, poolside bar, small outdoor Jacuzzi, fitness and spa rooms offer relaxation for all guests.

oh well.. how could i not seize the opportunity to take a dip
into such an inviting pool under this scorching hot weather ! woots !

Four Faced Buddha in Erawan is a tourist attractions where worshippers both locals and foreigners will pay respect. There have been no further hitches since then, and the shrine has became famous for bringing good fortune & luck . The name Erawan comes from Brahma's thirty-three headed elephant.

After shopping , we wanted a place where we can quench our thirst ,
we randomly walked into this small little shop name mango tango ,
which serve mainly mango .. thou i'm not a big fan of mango
but i'm willing to give it a shot after looking at the menu
and the attractive interior of the shop .

Though Mango Tango primarily sells mango based desserts,
other fruit based desserts are also available.
