hello everyone ...
i'm back with baking again !
first of all would really like to thank you guys for your wonderful suggestions in the previous entry .. however i came up a new creation today , hope you guys love it !
let's check out the ingredients needed..
INGREDIENTS
3 naval oranges
1 1/4 cups of icing sugar
1 cup of ground almonds ( optional )
110g ( 40 z ) soft butter
2-3 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
110g ( 40z ) caster sugar
110g ( 40 z ) all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
100ml of milk
1 . sift all purpose flour , baking powder , vanilla essence , egg whites, caster sugar , butter , and milk into a bowl
2 . Add orange juice and chopped orange flesh into the batter and mix thoroughly ..
3. carefully spoon the batter mixture into the mould tray to within two- third of the top
4. preheat the oven to 350 degree and bake for about 25 mins till well risen and firm to touch
5. meanwhile .. zest rind from remaining oranges then juice . place zest , juice and icing sugar into a saucepan . cook over low heat , stirring for 5 minutes or until mixture comes to the boil . reduce heat to low . simmer for 5 minutes or until mixture thickens slightly . allow to cool ..
Leave it to cool on the tray for about 10 mins
Last but not least my favorite part again !

So i need to squeeze orange juice out from the 3 navel oranges? and use the leftover squeezed orange juice as orange flesh?

not a bad start for the year.. looks pretty appetitising for people that has crave for citrus fruits.. yur food preparation as usual is still as good as before..
Just not sure about the taste and fluffyness of the friand.. too bad u cannot email us, else if can taste it can give better comments.. got some of the inspiration from yur chef friend?

Pardon my intrusion and allow me to share with you a little information 'nugget' about Friands.
Friands, otherwise know as Financier in the other regions of France, is a light tea cake which is mainly comprises of almonds. They(the alomonds) may be grounded or pulverised into a flour though the later one is favoured for it's fine texture.
Friands however, do not contain any traces of flour. it's volume is entirely made up of meringue (whipped egg whites). which attributes to it's light and airy texture.
Here comes the bombshell.
Like all pastries, they are usually aptly named by their creator. Take for instance the dessert Pavlovas, which is a crisp fruit Meringue named after the Tutu of Australian Ballerina Anna Pavlova or Mont Blanc , a chestnut cake made to the shape of the famous Mountain in the Alps.
Financiers were said to be popularized in the financial district of Paris which is of no surprise as their name means 'a person who handles large sums of money'.
As such, Financiers are little cakes that are baked in rectangular moulds resembling the gold bars the bankers would handle daily.
(I'm assuming some smart bakers cashed in on the bankers attraction towards money.)

thatc*keboy - hey no worries , in fact i 've made a little research before i do up this creation .. i added flour cuz i came across nos of bakers add to create some " texture " in it ...so i tried this instead of using only egg whites ..and i couldn find ground almonds at my area hence its slightly diff from the original recipe it's more of like my own now sorry for the less pro works here =) .. anyway really appreciate your info on this , and i will bear that in mind ! =) thanks for checking it out as well , all the best to u too ! =) amd oh my god ! btw ! are u that cake boy !!!
