Duncan's Food Review ( 5 )

( Exterior of Oosh )
( outdoor dining , THE GARDEN )

( ceasar salad )
( 3 sea sampler .. Tiger prawn wrapped with parma ham , salmon tataki and crispy tuna with avocado )

( garlic herb , crust pacific dory , bell pepper compote & balsmic reduction )

THE LOCATION
-----------------
Oosh @ Dempsey road

THE VIBE
-----------
Patrons must first drive through a narrow road lined with greenery before being rewarded with a glimpse of this charming restaurant. Situated in Dempsey area, with the overall landscaping and of course not to mention the disturbing poshy cars parked there . The place is basically made up of The bar , cellar , garden , roof , terrace , trellis and the yen dining respectively which is located at the 2nd floor link from a bridge at the end of the bar . Plush sofas and low coffee-tables clustered in sections around the bar area provide a cosy area to hang out with friends and colleagues after dinner. There are also private pavilions that can provide a nice setting for a group. The bar area is a bit dark at night with the low reclined resort style chairs that were not comfortable and too big for the space. One cannot sit into them whilst having a relaxing drink. The couches looked much more comfortable. The one main attraction of the place is the backdrop of an artificial waterfall that gives the sound of its soothing flow of water proves to be a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The concept here seems to be a "raw" one where one dines al fresco and as close to nature as possible, its like transporting a little bali to here . It is then not surprising that the restaurant looks a little unfinished. The pillars are piled with red bricks while the sides of the pavilion we sat in were also kept to minimal bareness. The effect is nonetheless, bizarre.

THE FOOD
------------
was a little disappointed with the limited selection of the choices of food available in the menu at the garden which serves a spread of delectable Western-Continental cuisine. however for a tantalizing start we ordered a ceasar salad & a 3 sea sampler which is mainly on seafood , nevertheless the seafood was fresh and tasty not to even mention the thick slices of salmon and
crispy tuna . Garlic herb , crust pacific dory , bell pepper compote & balsmic reduction is one of the main dish that we ordered for the night , fish was tender and serve warm with a little spicy taste that goes well with the bell pepper compote & balsmic reduction .. as for pasta lover , there is slightly more selection , to conclude, the ambience wins over the food there but i believe i will still be back there very soon to try on others that's available in the menu ..

THE SERVICE
--------------
The staff at Oosh were quite helpful to assist when we had queries about the dishes. However, it was not easy getting their attention as the place is sparse but it does'nt seems to be shortage of staff and frankly i did not recieve any highly rated services from them . My advice : Be patient and they will come by soon enough.

THE RATINGS
----------------
- Ambience

- food

however we did'nt have our desserts at oosh cuz the selection were again so limited so we decided to move further down to P S cafe @ harding road

sorry for the pic that looks dark ... but thats the entrance ... if u could figure out the path that leads in to the cafe =p
so i compensate putting this pic which i found from their website , at least a clearer one hehehe
interior of ps cafe ..
what i like most about them is the way they display a wide selection of yummy desserts for your pick !
for chocolate lovers! attention !!!! we ordered this two desserts ... double chocolate black out & ultimate brownie fudgy cake so irresistible !!! must try !!

after the full blasting feast ...

i took a "test drive" on jac's car ... lol ....
( full view of my " dream car " heheh )
jac driving ...
its was a very very late "post " birthday celebration for jacqueline , the reason why we did it so much later was due to commitment in work and also kinda hard to get everyone here tonight .plus ! .. we've been dying to visit both oosh & ps cafe too . anyway it's really really nice & generous of her to buy us dinner ( although we rejected at first ! ) and even took us out for a spin with her " topless " chrysler .. =) thanks jac ! we all love u !!

Oosh is not an easy restaurant to find, unless you drive. The lack of highly-visible signage in the Tanglin Village area, on Holland Road, means that you may have to wander around in circles before you finally spot the restaurant.
